911 992 GTS UK Release Date & Price

I saw a 991.1 C4S GTS for sale very recently. It says a lot that I found that more appealing than the new one

I think the ability to dial the engine to fit exactly in the gap between the Carreras and the GT cars plus the vast array of options available across the 911 range has taken some of the magic out of the GTS. As I went through the configurator I found I was only really recreating my Carrera S, and not feeling like I was tailoring something a bit special to my liking.

I'm sure it will be very well sorted, and properly tuned so that its a bit more than the sum of its parts, but its not a mouth watering proposition.

So now we wait for the 992.2 and the addition of mild hybrid capability to restore the linear power delivery.....

I just placed an order for one (Carrera 4gts)at Reading as the SE at Chiswick along with the Sales Manager would never return my calls( was on the list since October 2020.Pointless when you have to chase them.Retail Group does not take deposits until the model is released on the configurator).
I would agree with a previous post that it is a bit underwhelming, without the exhaust pipes in the centre like the 991.2 GTS. Essentially, you get slightly bigger brakes and 30 more bhp. The exhaust for the UK and EU market is again quite muted unlike the US ones and nothing has been done to improve it .Having watched the marketing video on the net ,It does not sound any different from a regular Carrera with Sports Exhaust. I have been given an estimated delivery month of March /April 2022 by which time the Generation 2 base Carreras will be near release. It might look dated but worth it ,considering it being the last pure combustion Carrera. I absolutely love the Gt3 touring but have two kids who are crazy about cars so could not justify a two seater. My specification was,PDK, PASM, Jet Black metallic, with the Standard seats,Turbo wheels heated leather steering wheel , Reversing Camera, Folding mirrors, illuminated door sills,no cost leather pack, Aero pack, sports sides skirts ,Privacy Glass and Bose. Would be curious to know what delivery time scales have been given to others.

I’ve had a deposit down for 18 months and dealer confirmed my order is on the system but they don’t have allocations confirmed yet. I think earliest deliveries will be late 21/early 22.

im going with similar spec to yourself. One thing I asked them was whether the Side skirts as standard are different to the sport design ones that still seem to be an option that can be selected.

I don’t blame you sticking with your car, after all the wait I’m not all that impressed, i’ve specked it up to just over 125K and I think my money would be better spent on a 992 S. To be honest, the 992 is bulbous especially from the back, from the back the turbo is a nicer look

Agree, I am having second thoughts on my order too, there’s just not enough special about it. Turbo brakes and rear suspension are not game changers for me, and no matter what I do, I end up at £125k. Does anyone think there will be discounts in the £5-10k range available, which could swing it for me?

There is an issue with the configurator. It does not illustrate the 'Sports design' side skirts, if you tick the Aerokit option. If you do not tick the Aerokit you can see the Sports Design Side skirt.

What you are referring to is the standard side skirt where the lower lip is black. It is not flared and the contrast would look strange IMHO on a Non Black car. The Sports Design Side Skirt is colour coded.

Has anyone been allocated a build slot yet ? I can’t get any kind of commitment to a date, even a guestimate. Motoring press suggested late summer but I’m not so sure about that.

don’t think allocations released yet, was told late this year early next year is best guess for first deliveries

I've spoken to 3 different dealers about this, they've all said if I place a deposit now then I can expect delivery around March/April next year.

Is that timeline based on a new order now or having the first order in the queue at the dealer though?

I had a deposit down for over 2 years And they were saying that they had lots of ‘orders‘ with them well before the GTS was unveiled.

That's if I placed an order now, but in all honesty I don't think it makes a difference if you placed a deposit 2 years ago. As no dealer should be taking deposits until the car is announced so I expect the timeline will be similar really.

Surely it will make a difference - if they’ve got 20 deposits already held and a limited allocation of cars then you’re going to be 21st in the queue and you aren’t going to get your car on the same date as the guy who’s first in the queue.

If a dealer has that many deposits then of course that will make a difference, but if a dealer has 4 or 5 deposits then not so much. The dealers I have spoken to have in the region of between 3 and 5 deposits each, hence the timeline they have given me. It also depends on how many allocations they will be given, and all dealers I've spoken to didn't have any numbers as yet to share on that front. So it is still a bit of an unknown unfortunately.

The other thing that is slightly annoying is that by the time these cars hit the road, then the 992.2 will almost be ready and that makes me think I should wait, given that will have some form of hybrid technology meaning more power and torque and a quicker car overall. I'm a bit confused at the moment on what to do.
