84 model stereo Wiring, which ones Memory/ignition??

Oil 4 944

New member

Fitted a different after market head unit than the previous one that was fitted

But wont turn off when i turn ignition off (old one didnt seem to do either)

Wirings a bit of a mess as previous owner cut wires and fitted bullet connections

So had to add a std ISO connection to block to allow fitment of new(or any) stereo

Is there even a memory wire as old stereo would remember where it was on cd but as i said i had to turn it on/off manually so had continous power i guess

thanks again

I dont know which wires do what with regards to it not turning off, but the remembrance issue is generally sorted by swapping the red and yellow wires over. Thats what's solved it on 2 cars i've had and my my dads cheap run around.

Yeh that normally works but i have two wires coming from car

and 2 wire which both need connected before stereo comes to life,

I dont know then mate i'm afriad as my electrical/general car knowledge is pretty limited.
Though know your pain a bit as mine was butchered a fair bit by someone in the past as well.
Hope someone can sort it for you though bud!
