Hi all,

I've been getting some quotes together for OPC 8 year major service on my 981 Boxster S and thought I'd post the results here for others to see.

Mid Sussex: 1450
Guildford/Reading: 1650
Portsmouth: 1300
Bournemouth: 1370

The above is excluding PCGB discounts (which aren't accepted at Guildford/Reading), for the following work:

8 Year Service (1 x SEALING RING, 1 x TOPUP/BAG, 1 x AIR FILTER AIR SUCTION, 1 x WINDOW CLEANER OUTER, 7.5 x ENGINE OIL, 1 x Odour and allergen filter, 1 x Oil filter insert, 1 x seal ring)
Brake fluid change
Spark Plugs
Check ancillary mounts and chassis inspection

111 check was coming up between £150 and £330.

If only OPCs would sell cars with the same variance in prices.

'Tis ridiculous what they get away with...

At least with some other German brands you can buy a fixed price service plan and take it to any dealer.....

Yeah the fixed priced service plan no longer exists unfortunately :/

mine was sub £1000 last year. No tyre sealant. I asked for a discount as it’s now getting old. No separate 111 point check though…my car is still under extended warranty.

unless you intend to take out a new warranty then I’m not sure why you need the inspection...most points on the list should be covered on a major service…I would hope.

My take on it is if you have full and continues OPC service history you do not pay for a 111 point check over ,,as to the other bits ditch the Top up oil think they charge £20 for a ltr and the Screen wash about the same ££ ,,,as to discount most will offer min 10% off parts, at 8yrs thought you needed belt change

Just had 8 year at an independent , but i dont bother with OPC or warranty. I also decided to change coil packs while plugs out. All for less than £1k :)

Belt change is 6 years I think on the 981. At least, it was done at the 6 year mark on mine.

I've got full OPC history so far, but it's not under warranty at the moment.

I have seen that some OPCs discount the labour rate once it's over X number of years old. Might see if that's something they'll do.

The 986, 987.1 and 978.2 cars are now classified as “Classic“ Porsches and are eligible for a discounted labour rate at the dealers - probably 10%? - but your 981 won’t be eligible.

I was charged £850 for the 14-year [minor] service on my 987.2 CS, including a brake fluid change, but I declined the litre of oil and screenwash.

I’ve just had quotes varying from just under £1400 to a smidge over £900 for the same 8 year service incl plugs and brake fluid change from OPCs. Guess which one I went with? Only downside is they can’t do it with courtesy car until end of March.

Out of interest contacted my OPC to get a service for 987 Spyder .it got its big 10yr in July 2022 so next one is Minor Cost £945 inc oil filter brake fluid and check over 3. hrs .Just oil /filter is £365 . The car has full OPC history so to keep it in line may bite the bullet.

Brian, would you mind sending that quote over? I'm keen to eek out as much discount from Portsmouth as possible - even though they're the cheapest, still feel like I'm having my trousers pulled down for the work they're doing 😁
