74 Carrera Race car for sale

Hi All
Hope this is not inappropriate (and I thought it better than posting in the for sale section) but I promised a friend I would post a link to a 74 Carrera race car for sale - though I have no financial interest personally. The car is in Canada, which doesn't make things easy of course and I am not massively up on race technology so can't comment too much on whether it's a good one or not. The car was Jim Ablett's race car in Canada - Jim was well know in PCGB circles in the UK in the late 80's as a regular club racer, both in the Porsche Championship, the Intermarque, Giroflex etc.
Sadly Jim died in 2006 and all his Porsche memorabilia and race stuff was sold in line with his wishes but this car remains unsold. Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated. Is it well priced? Where else could I advertise it? Is anyone interested?

With all due respect.. the car is over priced considering the other similiar cars up for sale on Pelican etc..
40,000 usd is where it should be i think.
 
Thanks for this post; as you know regarding pricing: it's what the market is prepared to pay for it but that doesn't prevent you from steering that market, obviously.

I would post up on www.DDK-online.com as wel as www.impactbumpers.com: two porsche fora who have a wide (r) audience then the jewel in the crown of British Porsche "organisations": PCGB.

A 2.7 carrera mfi was never officially imported in the US, secondly: this price is in CANADIAN dollars. Net we are talking £27000 then shipping then import then preparation etc.I would imagine that this is still near the top of the market but it is difficult to assess the condition of the car from a few pictures and discriptions.

Best bet is to contact the "sales" team at www.Autofarm.co.uk and possibly Neil Bainbridge Motorsport. A RS replica racecar, based on a 2.2E IIRC with 2.7MFI sold recently for approximately £24k or therabouts.
On the other hand, in the US there are the proverbial bargains to be had due to the low dollar.

Anyhow, my immediate thought is that there might be a more willing market for it in the US or locally.

Yes.. how many ads start with " 60k + spent....." but the cars sit for months with no takers at a cheap price. A modified car appeals to a niche market as it is and apart from the concours world where originality is king, will never get back what people have spent. Race cars are especially easy to buy and spend money..but hardest to shift.
I know its canadian dollars btw..
 
Thanks for all the replies guys. I too suspect it is top of the market but not being up on race technology (and prices) it is hard for me to say. I will get in touch with Autofarm and Neil over at BS...Jim Ablett used to race a '73 RS that was looked after by Bainbridge in the late 80's (I know - I bought it...) - so he may even know the car
