Well now we have a forum for these fine cars we need to use it..
So here is my 54 Pre A as of a pic I took last week in my garage..
Yep needs to be sorted as when i don't get much time on the car It does seam to get used as a very convinent place to put things.
Oh well. Any way once I get a load of work done and out the way for X mass I can get stuck back in.. the car has been stripped and also stripped to bear metal. It is currently in a dust coat of etch primer to keep it from the elilments. So hence it looks worse than it is.. but very good stuff to use. I used this etch primer on my 912 and I painted that car nearly 5 years ago now.
As it was when I bought it in 1999/2000
Purchased for a sum of $7000 from a very nice man in Fresno California, who had it 29 years and 20 of them in his garage. I still speak with him now.
When I say this car is clean I mean it is a resto dream look at the condition of the metal..
So I have set about taking it right back to metal and treating it like did my 912 so I never have to do this again.. Using modern methods it will not rust now unless a seal is broken, but I am keeping an eye on this..
This is a picture under the wheel arches and you can see it;s almost what people look for a rust free 356...The car is the most solid car I have ever seen in resto.. I am VERY lucky..
It's been a few colours over the years!!!!!
Resto started and a few bullet holes in the door!!
Arrrrr the strip down of the car for removal of the paint... My neighbours have seen it all before [][] On a trolley I made to move it about my garage ( if you want to make one of these they are VERY east to do I can show you see my web site...
The body work naked and just before I acid etched the car and then a dust coat of etch so I can start work on the body..
The etch primer can be wipped off with a cloth and thinners so it makes it very easy to work with and keep the metal sealed from the damp air..
In the back ground you can see my 65 912 project near to finishing...
So once that is done I can concentrate on my 54 car..

All images are hosted by www.photobucket.com a VERY useful and free web site to upload and host images so as not to take up space on web sites.. and a great way to use to send detailed pictures to other owners so you can discuss any problems, with the use of pictures..
