53000m 944 Turbo ?

ORIGINAL: roadiesean

I spoke to the actual owner last night, he sounded like a fair dinkum sort of bloke, but I think its safe to say that the mechanical history would be a bit shaky, he's had it for 14 years and it has been on and off the road the whole time, hence the mileage, he says its been off the road for the past 4 years. I'd definitely go and have a look, but.....the reserve ? £7000.00 and he will take no less.

Not for me, methinks.

£7k is a fair price for a spot on car with full history, running with belts and all other important stuff in good order. This car will want a good couple of grand spending on it immediately and it definitely is no £9k 944 turbo!

Might be worth a punt for under £4k if it looks better in the flesh than in the photo's - the interior looks in shocking condition and will probably look worse in the flesh. A cracked dash is a sign that it has been left outdoors for a significant portion of its life while off the road, which should be setting off all the alarm bells around the usual corrosion spots which are probably not in good order!

Considering he's had the car for so long he seems to know very little about it - suggests it has not been well looked after. Again - maybe worth a punt if you can get it cheap enough, but he wants top dollar price for a bottom dollar car - in its current state at least. My humble opinion of course! Given there are many people around trying to sell genuinely good cars and struggling to get top dollar or anywhere near, this car certainly doesn't deserve the price he's expecting. Low mileage alone is not enough!
