50th Anniversary Festival

So, we now have the outline for the Club's 50th Birthday weekend. This is only the initial ideas, there's still masses of time to include stuff we can do as a Register depending what you guys and gals want. One theme that's apparent is that it'll be a very affordable event. [:)]

Can everyone put the 2nd-4th September 2011 in their diaries? This is very much a "pick and mix" event, with different locations and activities to choose from. Briefly:

Friday: Track day at Coombe, based around short sessions so people can have a go without committing to a full day. A very cheap way to try the car out on track, and I suspect there might be a lunch or post-track debrief in a local pub.

Saturday: Silverstone is the main venue. We will have both Porsche Experience and some sort of track action, with masses of different things happening. A day similar to this year's Boxster and Beyond, for those who attended or read the write up.

Sunday: Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. We have the whole place to ourselves, and it is truly massive. The Porsche Experience will be there, with the Cayenne's hooning around in WRC-style. All the regions and registers will be there, and we can pretty much plan what we want.

Accomodation will include everything from camping to local posh hotels. The best idea is the student rooms at the college, it's stupidly cheap and, although basic, it's fine for a night or two. Food is available on site, it's a college after all. There is a bar.....[8D]

Loads of other ideas, such as a rally from the college to Silverstone Saturday morning. Mostly, though, it's up to you to tell us what you want to see put on and we'll see what's possible.

We're still looking for ideas as to what the Register members want over the three-day event. Happy to try to accomodate any suggestions, at least the sensible ones [;)], but unless there are any specific ideas then it's a line-up of 944s in a field again. [&:]

I think when top gear did the supercar feature they visited combe and used a mobile dyno, not sure if its based there or not, and was a few years ago now so there might be another. What about at silverstone?
we get a pretty good turn out on dyno days and if it was in amongst static displays on the sunday would add some 'animation'

I agree, either at Coombe or at the RAC on the Sunday would be great. I think the Silverstone day should have enough going on with the Experience Centre and the Stowe track stuff.

Well volunteered. [;)] Do you want to make some enquiries or should I?

sorry been caught up with some personal stuff, this looks promising, http://www.nt-r.com/dyno.html but 2wd only

Hi all,

I've had a request for helpers at the 50 Anniversary event. If anyone fancies getting involved with the event team for a few hours you'll get free entry and lunch. [:)]

Hi to all fellow Regional organisers and Register secretaries.

The task I am organising for Barry Smith is the manpower schedule for our main event on 3rd/4th September 2011 at Cirencester RAC, following site meetings and visits the event is coming on superb, it will be fantastic.
Manpower is of course very important for the success of our event, the requested offer of help will bring in return complimentary event entry pass and lunch and refreshments provided per day of help.

A half day (4.5 hours) is requested on 1 or both days please and you can choose your slot in your reply by stating AM or PM as appropriate. (event entry pass is daily).

Event build will begin on the Tuesday for PCGB section, any offer of help between Tuesday to Friday inclusive would also be grateful, I appreciate this is a lot to ask, it is obviously preferable to those living locally and with extra time to spare.

Regions are allocated a new marquee with 3 Regional cars per marquee parked adjacent, cars chosen by the respective RO in advance, Register parking is adjacent in Register display format for all other Porsches in attendance.

It is a large area and will allow plenty of cars and members alike for a great spectacle.

To proceed with your offer of manpower assistance please reply by email to myself John McGirl on Register@porscheclubgb.com

Best regards

John McGirl

Sounds like he has a cold! top work though with some quality graphic work :)

[:)] I don't know, I sort something so that The Club doesn't have to pay £250+ for a voice over artiste and the person I used gets accused of having a cold. It might have been that that is his voice over voice. [:D]

If truth be known I thought, I'm not paying that. How hard can it be? In reality it isn't as easy as it seems and, given more time, I would have revisited it (with the person who did it [;)]) having invested further in hardware and re jigged my rack to avoid some of the things that I can hear, because I know they are there, but probably others miss.

Was all good, just, the chosen voice over artiste sounded a little under the weather - probably working too hard ;)

I think I was told they would be sent out 3 weeks before Event.
So should be arriving any time now.

Alan.
