3 amp current drain

HI Richard no not yet. The battery was flat despite it being disconnected most of the time. I am leaving it on the Ctek overnight and will put the ammeter in series in the morning and trick the alarm system by latching the bonnet catch but leaving the bonnet open. It took me a while to work out what the other posters meant by latching the bonnet. I am beginning to think it is the battery but we will see in the morning. It did suck up enough charge to have the decency to start earlier so it is ongoing at the moment.
As the saying goes when you are up to your bottom in mud and alligators it is difficult to keep your focus on draining the swap
BTW did you see my ex red 944 turbo cab K4AFL in the magazine? To be 100 percent accurate the car was supplied new in 1992 hence the K plate but it was built in September 1991. Supplied new by Heddle and Deeks before they changed their name to Chapplegate Porsche. She was a beauty and I though it was fast until I got in the 911

UPDATE
A night on the Ctek and I am even more puzzled. the LEDs illuminated up to position 5 where it should stay for no more than 3minutes according to the instructions, but it stayed on five and did not move to 6. Bonnet latched and locked the current drain is 0.04 amps or 4 milliamps if you prefer after the prescribed hour. The cd cartridge is jammed in the multi changer. I know because when I press the eject button the draw goes up to 0.12 amps before settling back to 0.04. I need to unplug it and take it apart but this time I don't seem to be able to get the wretched electrical plug out of the changer.....Must be my 68 year old fingers getting feeble

HI Richard I have now Idea of the battery's age. I do remember replacing it at sometime but heaven knows when. If it was replaced when the original alternator went then probably four years. It is all locked up and under cover and Ill leave it for a few days and check the available voltage. It is a good quality Bosch battery. Yes of course 0.04 amps is 40 milliamps.

Epilogue;
The engine is running as well as, if not better than, before pulling well in all gears
I left the ignition key in my mistake and was sitting listening to the E-bay special cdc4 multichanger when the volume faded away. The battery ran out of juice, and because it was a couple of days before I went to fit the second hand cd changer I may have killed the battery leaving it dead flat for possibly as long as 3 days. I was awaiting the arrival of the second hand multichanger.
24 hours on the big charger at 1 and a bit amps and it started. You cannot use 148 simultaneously to do a system reset unless you have fixed all the faults, at least not on mine; having fitted the multichanger and then performed a 148 reset, all the faults ( System error; Amplifier, Telephone, CD multi disc unavailable) cleared and the cd player now works which was my original problem
In the interim I took the original cd changer apart(the electrical plug needs a couple of thin screwdrivers down the side to release the very determined clips)
and upon inspection the changer had tried to put 2 cds in one slot and was jammed. I can only suspect that when left in the garage the multichanger was drawing current cycling back to eject to disc back into the magazine. We will see in a weeks time
Very happy with my £75 E-bay purchase I must say
