2025 Cayman GTS - Engine Oil Temp/Pressure Issue

Good afternoon,

I took delivery of my new 2025 GTS (this is my first Porsche) yesterday and on the drive home (250+ miles) with 14c ambient temperature I noticed at 2.5k - 3k (cruising on motorway) that the engine oil pressure was between 1.9-2.0 bar and the oil temp was between 113-115c, these figures seem low and high respectively and I am hoping some other GTS owners could confirm if those reading are normal or that I may have a potential issue, the oil leave is showing as correct.

I tried contacting the dealer early this morning and sent a detailed email but so far that has gone unanswered :(
 
Oil temp sounds normal I think, the 4.0 engine does run hotter than older engines. On the road mine is regularly around/over 110 degC, it runs cooler on track (I have a GT4 which may have different cooling to the GTS).

I think the pressure reading sounds normal too, but it's not something I really look at or take notice of.

Thanks you for your answer, the dealer has just emailed back to say it is "normal" for this car but my spidey senses were tingling :)
 
No experience with the 4.0L engine but I would have thought those figures are acceptable given what Dave has said [I doubt that there’s any major difference between the 4.0L GT4 and GTS]. An oil pressure of about 2.0 bar when cruising at those revs sounds about right, and I assume that the pressure picks-up with increasing revs?

Note that if the 4.0L engine employs a similar oil system to that used in the engines in the 987.2 and 981-generation cars it will use a DME-controlled variable flow oil pump, so the pressure maybe higher if you’re driving harder, e.g. in Sport mode.

Have you looked in the Driver’s Manual for any relevant information?

Thanks Jeff, yes I scoured the owner's manual and could not get an answer, the type of oil system you describe is a new one to me. Thanks for listing its name I can now "Google" it <g>, I think I am correct in saying the 4.0 GTS used a dry sump system as well?
 
The 9A1 engine on the 987.2 and 981 uses a DME-controlled gear type oil pump and the flow is regulated by moving the slave gears axially with respect to the driven gears, thus changing the gear meshing and reducing power consumption depending upon engine operating conditions … rpm, load, temperature, etc.

Unlike the air-cooled engines the water-cooled engines aren’t dry-sumped, although the sump is very shallow and contains about 8-litres of oil. However, scavenging pumps are used to remove oil collecting in the camboxes of the boxer engine configuration.
