A pal was asking. If your car is a 2017 model year then CarPlay is supported. This list from the web:

Apple CarPlay® is standard on all the following Porsche models:

[ul][*]2017 – 2022 Porsche 718 Boxster[*]2017 – 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman[*]2019 – 2022 Porsche 718 Spyder[*]2017 – 2022 Porsche 911[*]2017 – 2022 Porsche Cayenne[*]2017 – 2022 Porsche Macan[*]2017 – 2022 Porsche Panamera[*]2020 – 2022 Porsche Taycan[/ul]

My 2016 Boxster S does not appear to have a SIM Card slot between the data card slots....
Is this normal, and does anyone know why?
The car demands my phone, but won't let me set up apple play.

If you have the Porsche extended warranty and intend to upgrade the PCM, it will be worthwhile checking to ensure that any such upgrade will not adversely affect the cover under the warrant.

It is a 982, so it should support CarPlay.

I have an IPhone 13, so it "should" work, but it doesn't. There The PCM has 2 slots for SD Cards, but NO centre slot for a SIM Card. According to the hand book it should. What is going on?

Time to get the seller involved, I think.

Further, the car will not transfer data to My Porsche, despite the App showing the car.

I've referred the issue to the UK Porsche Customer Interaction Centre, they have referred the issue to Germany.

Further news: If I try and sign up for My Porsche to get the live traffic data, location it tells me that no vehicle has been added to my Porsche ID.

But when I try to add the car it tells me that it is there.

All very strange...

Back to the dealer tomorrow.

Peter

Not if the car is lacking the IU0 option, which I'd thought had been established from a VIN decode ?

iirc the car also lacked the CarPlay option.

Booked in at the OPC, later this month. They can install Apple Car Play for £250.00 and will sort out all the issues with "My Porsche" connectivity: it should function on a 2017 model year car.
