Apple Carplay/Android Auto Upgrade for PCM 3.1

Hello.

I am considering adding Apple Carplay/Android Auto to my 2013 Cayenne (PCM 3.1).

I wondered if anyone else has done this and, if so, does it work well?

Yes I have had this done by a local car accessories company. It has a tendency to stop working once in a blue moon and I have to unplug the phone from its charging cable and put it back again. Otherwise it is fine and I wouldn't be without it.

Cheers for the reply. Could you share what it cost you to purchase and have it fitted? I have been quoted £995 all-in. That seems eye-wateringly expensive to me.

Same issue for me - £900 in 2019 - but offset by moving to free sat nav updates rather than paying Porsche for the very infrequent PCM ones. I am told the kit is quite expensive for decent quality and I went for an installer familiar with installing electronics into high end cars.

Not sure but ask www.sextonslondon.co.uk 020 8877 1148 who installed mine.

It works separately from PCM but they both work eg you can choose PCM navigation or Apple play navigation such as Waze and both use the PCM screen.

If it helps my Cayenne has a 63 plate and has not knowingly had a PCM update.

I have upgraded mine using the joy auto one. Not that difficult to do if you can read and use a screwdriver. Think it cost around £280 on Ali express. Good technical support over WhatsApp, works great.

I've just installed the NM Automotive kit in my Cayenne and it was pretty straightforward. Excellent instructions and the promise of support if needed.

I opted for that kit because it still leaves me the choice of using the OEM Nav when the phone signal is bad for example. The only thing I found awkward was routing all the cables behind the dash.

Hi I am new member to the club and the forum and recently returned to being a Porsche owner after driving a Maserati for the last four years. I now have my second 2015 Panemera which I like very much and has all the options such as Burmister ,rear screen entertainment etc. The one thing I find very strange is that it does not have any AUX/USB connections in the center .
I have AUX bluetooth showing on the source screen along with DAB,TV,AM,FM,Disc but no AUX or Jukebox on my PCM 3.1 headset.
My previous Panemera has both Jukebox and Bluetooth and AUX/USB installed as standard.
I have been enquiring having Car play installed as I have had it in my two recent cars but have been informed that without AUX jack it is not possible. Has anyone retrofitted an AUX/USB kit or will it just be a case of reprogramming the head set.

Hi All,

I am looking to get the CarPlay with reversing camera added to my PCM3.1.
Looking for suggestions on service centres or any experts who are based around London.

Thanks,
AJ.

I have it in my car and I used www.smart-tuning.co.uk .
This kit is using the original bluetooth audio for sound and calls which provides the best sound quality, retains all the original features and controls and it won't void the OPC warranty.
Connects automatically very quick and supports front and rear cameras.
The guy can do any PCM versions and coding for new models.
Very happy.
