As a new register secretary I may be treading on toes, if so, my apologies - but:
I am a cancer survivor so Carolyn and I try to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support - frequently using our 912 as the focus for such attempts. One of these events is the annual Cape to Cape Tour which this year starts from Cape Wrath in NW Scotland (R1) and spends a week, and 1500 miles, getting to Cape Cornwall (R15) via the western bits of Scotland, Wales and England (possibly Regions 2, 5, 6, 14, 16, 18, 26, 31). Details of the overnight stops are on the official website: www.maccapers.co.uk but the actual route will remain a secret until we arrive at Ullapool on the 21 April. The finale this year will be the 'Truro Classic Challenge' around the closed roads of Truro on 29 April, followed by a display of the entrants' cars and other classic and vintage cars. All this is to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and increase the amount we have already raised (£420,000) to break the half million.
One spectating site is the 'Rest and be Thankful hill climb' on the morning of 24 April. If you are in or near Truro on the 29th, please come along and watch. I shall be trying to keep the website updated on a daily basis, but timings are usually so tight that I find sleep is a better option!
Carolyn and I would be very grateful if register members could drop a few coins into our electronic collecting box: www.justgiving.com/912.
End of unashamed plug.
Many thanks
Brod and Carolyn.
