Hello, I have a 2005 4.5S used as a daily driver for the last 8 years (183000 miles so far) and it may be time to change to a slightly newer model. I have seen advertised a few 2010/11 hybrid cayennes with around 100000 for sale around the £12000 to £13000 mark. Does anybody have any advice on what to look for on these cars or is it better to walk away and look at a something like a Turbo? At the moment I’m not interested in diesel’s.Thanks Tony.

2010/11 Cayenne Hybrid advice

MY2011 hybrids where the first hybrids Porsche manufactured and where not plugin hybrids, they charged using the petrol engine and driving (like the early Prius did). The electric side was more a "fill in" ie coasting, braking gave a little none petrol miles etc rather than a usable driving mode. I'd guess the warranty on those batteries will have expired by now and degeneration will have reduced capacity by a fair amount. Have a good look at the electric capacity you can achieve on the ones you are looking at as you could simply be carrying a "some what useless heavy lump of battery which is not in warranty"
I did drive one back in the day as I was considering one, which drove nicely, however it was sometime in 2013 and we already knew a new plug in version was due soon, so didn't pull the trigger on one back then, first plug ins where indeed released in 2014 and when brand new had a claimed Electric mileage of 11 miles

Thank you for your reply. I guess the novelty of the hybrid and a commute to work of only 10 miles round trip is why I am looking. But, the possibility/probability of battery degradation and related components against cost of repair makes the idea a non runner. Maybe a 4.8S or turbo is a better option!!?
