2.5 (and owner!) wanted for TV - who wants to be a star?

I have received a request from ITV for a Boxster owner for a future programme:

I work for a new ITV car programme called The Used Car Roadshow which
was the surprise hit for ITV Digital Channels in 2005, and has been
re-commissioned for 2006. In each programme we include an item called 'free motoring'. This is
when we tell the story that someone has managed to buy a great car at a
great price. We are interested in this story if it involves a certain
model, now seen as collectible or cult or for whatever market reason will
not depreciate in value. If the owner wishes to sell it on then he/she
would still be able to get the price that they originally paid for it,
hence the term, "free motoring." I am a big Porsche fan and I would
love to try and find an example of this type of story involving a Boxster. I believe you might be able to pick an early 2.5 with the service
history for around the £13,000 mark, run it for 6 months and due to the
great and classic nature of the car would not depreciate within this time.
My reason for contacting you is to ask you if you knew anyone in the
club with such a story/ such a car? I spoke to a lady in the owners club
who put me in touch with you as you run the boxster register.
I would appreciate any advice/help you can give me on finding a Boxster
example of free motoring.

Better that Quentin Wilson and his "I picked up this lovely old Merc for just £1.50 last week, and it's a lovely little runner" instantly devaluing all the cars of that model by several £000's []

Free motoring in the Boxster?
I'm not convinced the bottom has been reached yet.
There is one being advertised at the moment in 911&PW for £9,999 (p.139 RHD 2.5 trade).

I don't think we need to debate the finances of it all here - The TV People have decided that this is what they want to promote - that an old-ish Boxster can be bought, and six months later can be worth about the same amount of money as was paid for it.
This is probably a reasonable assumption - prices may be going down but they are hardly in free-fall!
We don't need to prove it can be done, and it does not really help us to try and disprove it [&:]

I wasn't suggesting we talk them out of it, I think it's a great idea, and can only do good for Boxster prices........I was just pointing out that his assumptions may be flawed.

Hope they get their man/woman/car from PCGB....that will show 'em what a good bunch of people we are!

I don't think my stating fact will add any significant percentage to depreciation rates and I also don't think we should try and pretend that it doesn't effect our cars. [8|]

I was offered 14K less than I paid for it when it was two years old so things haven't changed much in my opinion.

When I bought my car selling it wasn't an option. Six years later it still isn't so I really don't give a rats arse how much Glass or Parker tells me it is worth. [8D]

If you buy in September and sell in March I would suspect many 986's would show low (or even zero) depeciation despite the current market.

1) Because you are a drop top nut like me and drop the roof any dry day and the winters in the UK are very dry these days []

This winter I left my hard top off to see how many times I could run with the lid down.

I actually managed no topless runs at all! []
