1989 944 TURBO SE FORSALE!!!

An '88 Turbo S would have option M758, later turbos regardless of spec would not. I think the UK 'SE' nomenclature stands for 'Special Equipment'. I wouldn't put too much faith in the V5C, my old Rose's document stated colour: brown. [:D][&:]

Great looking car with some nice extras.
Looks like a great buy for someone, especially with recent-ish clutch and headgasket.
Best of luck with the sale.

MANY THANKS for comments!!! the clutch etc has only done 30 miles since done!!!
i have had a couple of complete timewasters regarding car.
But you can expect that

James, just curious but do you find yourself significantly disadvantaged from a sales perspective being in NI? My wife is from Belfast so I am over there frequently and it is such an easy and short trip to make.

EXACTLY!!
I HAVE had 5 944 turbos, 1 lux, +964 carrera 2 + 993 carrera 2
and 4 out of those 6 porsches came from the Mainland!
i cant see any problem with the short trip to get something you want!
i belive if you want something enough you will travel+ thats half the fun going on a road trip lol

Just my 2 cents: 952 is the designation for a RHD 951/944 Turbo or at least so I have seen it in the past.

GLWS

Would like to have your car for fun here in Denmark but believe it will be a bit too expensive all in all :-(

/Niels

Its a part number prefix for unique right hand drive parts, of which the Turbo has very few. 945 is equivalent for the 944 models. Ive removed my own opinion from this, suffice to say its simply incorrect.

Neil, and even though she was officialy brown, she was actually champagney coloured and ended up Maritime blue!!![:D]
If cars had a soul i bet she was looking forward to retiring, and then she got turned into a racecar!
She was reborn!
I always thought the 250s after the 88S were a turboSE...??

Are not all UK 250 bhp turbo's built after the silver rose and turbo S models, called turbo SE? I didn't think there was such a car as, for example, a 1990 or 1991 turbo that was not called a turbo SE. And this is regardless of the actual spec of the vehicle. I think it is just what they were called.

On my Cert. of Authenticity it lists as "Optional Equipment":

Headlamp washers, Sports seats with electric height adjustment, High fidelity package (8 speaker system with amp), Top tinted windscreen, Sun roof, Partial leather front seats.

But I don't actually believe these were all optional and as chosen by the original purchaser - surely some (if not all) of these items were in effect standard.

And I always thought my speaker system had 10 speakers (not that I've ever looked or counted). Just shows what I know!

my guess would be that you'll find that certain markets (eg UK) specified certain options as standard for their cars - I think the option codes are always still on the options sticker in the boot/service book, but that the particular combination for UK Turbo's just become known as 'Special Equipment' package - doubtful if it was ever an official title ?

Mark, yes that was some second life.[:D] I wonder how she's doing now.......

Thinking about it, my first 944, an S, was listed as body style: estate. So, the V5 is far from 100% reliable.

The guy that bought her has done a restoration on the car, apparently it's mint underneath now,she is well loved, and lighter bits have been added, she is like Lassie going from place to place having new adventures[:D]

Mark, thanks for the update, good to hear, long may it continue.[:)]

Funny how sentimental we get about these cars......

I must ask, whats the button thingy on the rear wing above the wheel and below the rear hatch

Its just a blanking plug to close off where the rear wiper would have come through.

Edit - just re-read your question and realised you are asking about something entirely different - doh!

Must read more carefully!! [:D]

So that would be a prototype car featuring rear quarter panel wipers... Interesting...[:D]

Not sure, perhaps the traces of an antenna for one of these ugly and huge car phones of the late 80s...
