16v plug leads

I bought some Laser Tools plug lamps for this. They illuninate if each lead is functioning correctly and theyres no chance of electricuting yourself. Theyre excellent for establishing what and where the fault is and they only cost £9 from Halfords (£11 w/o trade card).

Something else to consider, my rough running was cured by a new fuel pressure regulator. Cost just over £100 and wasn't difficult to fit thanks to clarks-garage website.

Snap On used to sell a clip on probe for diagnosing electrical issues. I got mine secondhand at £30 I admit, although it has helped me many a time in ruling out various issues (coils, coilpacks, lead issues, plugs etc. :)).

I thought my old S2 was bodged. It has two No2 Cylinder leads on before I replaced the lot (despite running relatively smoothly, two of them were arcing):

This is the 'tool' that I have been talking about. Their site suggests an RRP of £15, but Halfords charge about £11-12 and I paid a shade over £9.

I changed the FPR on my S2 last year as it had high emissions at MOT time, and this was one possible culprit. Cost was £78, but it was a pain in the 'arris to fit! Maybe my fingers are fatter than yours Chris but getting those two mounting bolts in was a fiddly little job (and cost me a fair bit of skin!)

Perhaps I made it sound easier than it was....

There was a little swearing for the neighbours to enjoy, and I did lose a bit of skin from my knuckles. I particularly enjoyed the challenge of trying to attach the bolt that you can't see into the hole that you can't see!
