and the speakers at

Will they retrofit into my 86 turbo door panels or did the 10 speaker system use different door panels?

Also same question with the rear speaker - would I be able to mount the speaker bit or need to change the whole panel?

Best Regards
Julian

If you buy these door panels from eBay (which are correct and the same as in my 1990 turbo) you could buy a full new set of speakers. The old ones will probably be dry and well past there best, so you'd be better to fit new drive units. JMG in Christchurch do the whole supply and fit job for about £500 I think, but you could just buy the bits and fit it yourself.

1986 does not have space for rear systems. Body was changed from model year 1987. 10-speaker option is easy to install all 1987 and newer 944's. All necessary wires are already inside doors and rear. Sound quality of these Nokia made system is not so good. I suppose it would be a better alternative to buy a 968 set, which have similar plastic parts as older 10-speaker system. They do not have those speakers, just one element down and one at the top. It is easy to install new style speakers to these plastic parts.

Id agree with Olli. Buy the rear quarters and door cards/bins and sepaker assemblies off Alasdair and then re-speaker them. I had a few cars with this option, some when still quite new, and even though it was better than the primitive four Bosch speaker standard offering, it was pretty crap compared to what youd hope for today.

Have never seen Bosch-made 10-speaker systems. All i have had were equipped Nokia made elements. During the late 80's Nokia was expanding also to TV, Stereo sets etc. branch. Was not that succesfull, so they sold these enterprises. Now all different business have been separated, Tire business is under Nokian tyres (Nokian means Nokia's), Also foot wear, rubber boots is independent company. Nokia started in late 1800's producing rubber stuff in a little town called Nokia, close to Tampere Finland.

The 10 speaker systems speakers were made by Nokia as you say. The four speaker standard offering (one speaker in each door and one in each rear quarter) had Bosch made speakers.
