Hi
When locking car using key remote the driver’s door does not lock, passenger door works fine.

Haven’t noticed any other faults with the car. Does anyone have suggestions for the cause of the fault?

Many thanks

does it lock from the inside on the central locking button or manually with the key?

any beeps from the car when locking from the remote?

Check the door handle is closing flush as had similar on 986 where part of the door gasket had worn and moved stopping flush closing so microswitch not activating to say handle closed

Hope this helps

Hi

Thanks for your replies
Doesn’t lock with the button inside car but locks with the key. No peeps from the alarm when trying to lock but if you open the boot lid the alarm peeps as you would expect.
Door seal is a bit worn, see pic but doesn’t look too different to the passenger side.

Probably it’s a malfunctioning micro-switch somewhere in the locking mechanism. Can you run some diagnostics to see if an error message is being flagged-up to give you a clue as to the likely cause of the problem?

Thinking:

- Can you leave window open, then key lock door and unlock with internal central locking switch.

- As you get open door / compartment 'beep' with boot open then unlikely to be microswitch, as microswitch not activating or faulty should give open door beep.

- As you can physically key lock the door then appears to be drivers door central locking motor / unit not engaging. Suggest remove door card and check the connections to the unit and if you have a multi-meter check power is going to unit, especially when you .

I've experienced several disconnected central locking units and damaged wiring, generally after window glass replaced

Hope this helps

if you have a multi-meter check power is going to unit, especially when you do lock / unlock with fob or internal switch

The door lock module is a "computer" - as such there will be power (likely permanent 12V (T30) ) connected to it - the "lock/unlock" signal will come over the canbus - a computer to computer signal - you won't pick it up on a meter. Needs diags - icarsoft or foxwell will give you the info you need - reach out to the local region to see if anyone has the right gear and will "scan for a beer"
