Hi. The milometer has stopped working although the speedo works fine. does anybody know of a company that can do a repair. I suspect that the plastic cogs have gone brittle and the teeth have broken off.

I had mine done by REAP in the UK, google required for details.
That was 10 years or so ago, all good still.
They can break if you 'zero' the miles with the car on the move.
I know some who have had work done there last year, so still in business!

From the Guru, Tore B;

The failure of the internal plastic gears has little or nothing to do with resetting the odometer.
I have repaired hundres of these speedos now, the gears were lubricated with petroleum grease in the factory, which is incompatible with the plastic type used.
The result is that they disintegrate into a rubber-like state and eventually crumble and break apart. This will happen with all these speedometers.
Pressing the mechanical reset button might put a little strain on the gears, but the digit rollers are mechanically disconnected from the motor/drive gears when you do.
If the gears are so bad that they fail because of this action, it is only a matter time before they fail anyway.

Thanks I will get in touch.

Hi,
I used JDO instruments. They did a great job on my speedo.

We have all the cogs you might need for a DIY job, get it apart first and see what you need, probably the brown 20x30

My wife's 924S milometer has suffered this but as its in daily use,is it not possible to get the correct gear 1st so it can be repaired quickly without becoming illegal.I read that it is the 14t gear that goes-do you stock those & cost,or is it really essential to strip the speedo to check 1st?

All available gears are listed on our site. Im afraid I have zero experience with water cooled speedos!
