****Book here****
As is our R3 tradition, Clear Away the Cobwebs will take place on the first Sunday in April. After our trip into North Yorkshire last year, this year we will be heading to the north of our region, with a brief sortie into the Scottish borders.

We’ll start at Belsay Hall, where staff are kindly opening early for us at 9am, allowing us to park in front of the Hall for photos. We have arranged breakfast butties & tea/coffee for £7 per person in the Old Kitchen tearooms, to be booked in advance so staff have an idea of numbers.

We will head north from Belsay, for Rothbury, skirting the Cheviot Hills, a brief stint on the A68, to take us briefly into Scotland. From there we’ll head back into Northumberland towards Wooler, with our end stop at Ad Gefrin in Wooler.

For those who haven’t yet heard, Ad Gefrin is Northumberland’s newest whisky distillery, named after the nearby home of the 7th century kings & queens of the Anglo Saxon Royal Court.

We’ve negotiated a discounted price of £20 per person which includes tours of the museum, Great Hall & distillery, followed by a whisky tasting. For the drivers, the distillery will provide a drivers’ dram to take home. If you’d prefer just to do the tour that’s £8 per person. Ad Gefrin have asked that if you are not doing the tours or lunch that you park in the general town parking.

Our private buffet lunch of salad, soup, sandwiches & dessert is £20 per head.

The plan is to split us into groups, bringing us all together for the whisky tasting after lunch.

You’re then free to head home at your leisure on your own route, at your own pace.

Any questions drop me an email greg.harm@btinternet.com

Greg,
Sounds like a great day and would like to book. I have done the tour and whiskey tasting at Ad Gefrin a few times. Is it possible to join for breakfast, the drive and lunch but miss out the tour and tasting? Just not sure of the timings at Ad Gefrin?
Thanks,
Steve

Booked...breakfast, drive and lunch....(y) I will skip the tour...I remember the last time I was drunk on whisky, not a pretty sight..🤪🤣

Last chance for anyone that hasn't officially booked by filling in the form at the top of the post. Registration closes at midnight tonight and unfortunately we won't be able to accommodate anyone that turns up that hasn't registered.

Thanks everyone

Hi All, booked on and finally got to be able to post something. Have a great weekend.

All the Best

Hi, sorry for the delinquent response but things have been a bit mad... If any spaces appear please let me know as Chris and I will almost certainly fill one :)

I haven't received any flags or updates on this......or anything else in R3, since I posted my intention to attend on 5th March, and yes I have ticked the "watch" box so that it is showing "unwatch" on my page..... definitely something wrong here, I will need help next time we are in a group....

For all you super eager Cobweb clearers, everyone registered should receive an email today, make sure you read it thoroughly, as it contains not just your joining information but also your route directions. Please check it over and print out your route (AS NONE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE DAY) from the relevant information. If for any reason you haven’t received it, by close of play today, please double check your spam filters just in case it’s been redirected to there.

To clarify, we will be meeting at the agreed start point from 9.00am and aiming to leave by 10.00am at the latest to ensure we all arrive at the venue for around 12.00.

Fingers crossed the weather plays ball, but as both locations start and finish have an abundance of indoor warm and dry areas, no need to worry. What will be will be.

Hi all, I now unfortunately cant attend the cobwebs run as planned on Sunday as my Boxster is having issues and is going to the garage.

Greg advised I am fine to mention it on here so if anyone would like my space/ spot it is available?

I have booked a place for the lunch for 2 plus 2x breakfast sandwiches for myself and my passenger. I hadn’t booked the tour though.

Thanks
Simon
