Hi anyone can anyone recommend someone who can investigate/repair my sunroof - just acquired my 1987 2.5 Lux and there’s whirring. Going on behind the headlining but no action! Help……. Cars been sat for years seller didn’t. Know anything about the roof…..just starting to restore …thanks

Assuming you have it undercover / in a garage, then suggest look at the Wheeler Dealers episode where they fix the VW sunroof and have a go yourself at removing the sunroof mechanism, identify the faulty part(s) and methodically repair and refit it.

From memory, 944 uses same assembly as VW group cars so should be able to get used parts.

Hope this helps.

That’s great yes I have it in a garage thanks will try to find the episode 👍🏼

Plastic gears will be stripped, don't be tempted to install the "uprated" metal gears, the plastic ones are designed to strip so your sunroof mechanism doesn't explode. Using the metal gear with a badly adjusted mechanism is asking for trouble.

Should be a nice simple job - good luck!
