17" Tyres (getting as bad as trying to find 16" ones)

What 17" tyres are people running these days? 225/45R17 Michelin PS4 are no longer available, and the rears 255/40R17 are not available in Michelin PS5. I'm considering going for a full set of Yokohama V105 as these are available in staggered fitment. The only other full set UHP I can see is Michelin PS2 Porsche rated tyres.

Only other thought I had was dropping down to a 245/40R17 on the rear as there are far more tyres available in this size with the increased possibility of a full set of matching brand and pattern.

Or should I just get some new 16" tyres for my D90s...
 
I spoke to Michelin recently about a set of 17" tyres for some 968 Cup 2 wheels I've got, and they couldn't supply a matching set of Pilot Sports. Plus they wouldn't approve fitting PS4's and PS5's together.

Options I'm considering at the moment are:

1. Yokohama V105 in correct sizes
2. Michelin PS5 225/45R17 & 245/40R17
3. Michelin PS2 N3 in correct sizes
 
I have recently had fitted to my Boxster S front Michelin Pilot Sport4 205 50 17 & rear PS4 255 40 17. I enquired about PS5 & was told not available.
 
That is a significant reduction in the contact area of the tyre on the road, I don't think I'd like to drop down two sizes from a 225 to a 205.

I've had a couple of sets of N rated PS2's on my 18" wheels and I think both sets were around £600 fitted. Recently when I checked, the PS2's had gone up quite a lot :(.

You can get a set of PS2s for about £700, the Yokos are just under £500.

You can get Falken FK520 in the right sizes as well, but they are more of a touring tyre and not UHP according to most reviews.

If you time it right, you can receive a cashback from Michelin. Just confirm where you buy the tyres from is in the promotion first. I had a bad experience with Falkens on my Mrs Fiesta ST, so I wont be buying them for my Turbo.
 
You can get £40 cashback for a full set of Michelins, £20 discount on Yokohamas, I usually purchase from Asda Tyres as they have some of the best prices and I can choose the tyre fitters near me.
 
Earlier last year I got £100 back from Michelin but that was against a set of 19" PS4's. I had to claim it back on their website, and it was a right faff because they wouldn't recognise Black Circles address to start with.
