986 550 Edition 2-tone wheels refurb

Just had x4 18” wheels refurbed for my 2004 986 Boxster S 550 Spyder anniversary edition. This car has unique 2-tone wheels (GT silver and Seal grey), which I wanted to maintain on the car.

Had several quotes ranging from c.£1k!! To ‘not interested’ - seems that 2-colour wheels are a PITA to refurb 🫣

Anyways, I ended up using ACE Finish express body shop in Godmanchester, Cambs (near Huntingdon).

ACE have done an incredible job in refurbishing the wheels material condition and also colour matching the Porsche OE colours AND achieving a brilliantly clean separation between the 2 colours on a design of wheel not best made for 2-colours (ie no real clear edges / joins for the colour change).

Full review and photos here:

I ended up paying £720 all in with a military / veterans / blue-light discount that I negotiated.

Very happy with the result and price. 🛞🛞🛞🛞🤩👍🏻

Hopefully so. I live in Bedford but it was well worth the effort travelling to G’chester to ACE.

I’ve also just picked up my front bumper from them yesterday. Will post images of that once out the back of my Kia, redressed with newly restored black trim pieces (tomorrow night) and back on the car (Monday night hopefully).

In Bedford itself I have also used and can totally recommend Auto Smart Repairs - Matt did a brilliant job on converting my 20” satin arum wheels to gloss. I did seek a quote from him for the 2-tone wheels, but he wasn’t interested / didnt want to do the 2-tone Bx 550 wheels, which is fair enough - his business = his prerogative to choose which jobs he takes / leaves.
