Driver seat leather, please help.

I am distraught. I have a 13 month old Panamera that has done 5.5k miles. The leather on the drivers seat cushion has bubbled up. The bubble is over half the area of the cushion, in the middle. it is obvious that there is no backing to this leather. I would have thought it would have been glued to the underlying foam? The dealer told me that it was covered by the warranty and they would order parts. Three weeks went by and then then said they had to send photos to Porsche. I have now been told that leather stretches and this significant bubble is normal. I am 76 years old and had cars since 17. This Porsche was going to be the best car ever. Never experienced anything like this. Please off me advice.

Hi Bob,

Your local region and RO are your best friends here. Even if you don't normally attend regional meetings, go along to one or two and let people see the problem. The RO generally has some influence with the local Porsche Centre and people at the meetings will include some of their best customers. It's surprising how attitudes can change when news gets round that lots of customers are not happy. If nothing else, you'll get an opinion from other owners as to whether this is an acceptable level of "aging". Good luck.

Hi Bob,
The response from your AD is unacceptable. Have they actually looked at the seat ?.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, cars bought from dealers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. You should put your complaint in writing to the dealer principal. Send the letter via recorded delivery. You must give them the opportunity to correct the issue but keep a record of the dates and summary of the conversations.

I would suggest trying another OPC. I have found Mid Sussex and Portsmouth to be very helpful. Happy to help coordinate with Mid Sussex if that’s of any help.

I’ve been through something like this with the leather seats in my previous Cayman as you could still see my backside imprinted in the leather when I got out and I’m in no way a big guy (72kgs). They have a briefing note that has the acceptable wear limits for warranty claims on leather seats. Unfortunately mine was acceptable and one of the reasons I stuck with Alcantara when I ordered my CGTS.
