Cayman 981S Service

Morning, My Cayman is due for a 10 year minor service in March. This will bee the car's 5th service since I purchased the car new in 2016. Is anyone able to give me an idea what I should be paying at the OPC. I've always used Chester but they seem to have lost their mojo with customer service so I am tempted to give Bolton a try as I've heard good things about them.

You will probably be quoted between £1,000 and £1,200. some OPCs will give a discount for PCGB members. I have just had a minor service at OPC Bournemouth who quoted £1k and gave a 25% PCGB discount off that.

Thank you Terry. Sounds pricey. I paid £1100 for a major service 2 years ago. I'm not currently a member but was for the first 5 years of ownership so will probably re-join the club if that makes such a difference.

You won’t get 25% off from any OPc in the north. Depending on where you are, give the dealerships in your area a call and compare prices. Bolton and Preston are owned by Bowker so pricing will be the same.

It is certainly worth shopping around. I had a minor service on my 981S Boxster last February at Newcastle OPC (JCT600) and paid £779 after 10% PCGB discount on parts. However, due to the age of my car (2013), it qualified for classic labour rates which are lower. Not sure if all 981's qualify for the lower rates.

In my experience, like everything else, it depends on the individual service advisor you are negotiating with.

I believe that officially only the 987-series cars have “Classic Porsche” status and are eligible for a slightly lower labour rate. Maybe your dealer has bent the rules for your 981 since it’s more than 10-years old?

In my area Cambridge and Silverstone [and maybe Hatfield?] offered a 10% discount on parts and labour ex-VAT for my 987.2 CS.

In the NW we have Preston, Bolton, Chester, Wilmslow and Stockport so give them all a call.

If you speak to Preston, ask for Scott Robertson. He's my go-to guy.
