1986 Turbo Wing Mirror Gasket

Hi All,

Having a slight issue in sourcing the correct wing mirror gaskets.
I've attached an image of the old one (Dirty) against the new one I sourced from Design911, however upon removal they don't match or work.
Can anyone shed some light on what the correct part is and where I can source?

Series 1 cars, >85 and series 2 cars, 86> have different mirror bases although the mirror is the same. A turbo should have series 2 mirrors. So it can be a tad confusing.

Design 911 are almost certain to be more expensive than genuine from an OPC. You get discount as a PCGB member at OPC.

Not endearing. View it this way, it could have been a helpful comment... you bought a mirror gasket that turned out to be not the part that you needed, and as per your thread title you referred to "wing" mirrors. Parts catalogues are going to be specific and a wing mirror gasket could be different to a door mirror gasket... So it might have been a snarky comment (in which case let it go, rise above it, it might have been ill judged / timed humour or, yes, pedantry) or it might have been someone helping you to narrow your search, who might now be feeling that helping you was not a good investment of their time and energy. It's nice to be nice, forums are delicate ecosystems etc.

As I said in my previous comment, your local OPC may be cheaper and can likely source you the correct part by VIN number. I hold D911 in low regard, they're almost always significantly more expensive than Porsche for genuine parts, their repro stuff is generally garbage and on the rare occasions where they are the only option (944 front brake callipers spring to mind) then their service still manages to make me wish someone else could have sold me the parts.
