Continuing to evolve
With new colours and other options being added for the 2021 model year, and some features available ‘on demand’ (after delivery), the Taycan is continuing to evolve. A new feature called ‘Plug-&-Charge’ enables charging without the need for cards or an app. The Taycan establishes encrypted communication with the Plug & Charge-compatible charging station, and the charging and payment processes are automatic.
In addition to the coloured head-up display, new models also benefit from improved integration with Apple Car-Play. Access to Apple podcasts, and even ‘Time-Synced Lyrics’ on the passenger-side display, are available. Personally, I am not sure I will allow any of my passengers to sing-along! With winter tyres very much on our minds right now, both Hankook and Goodyear are releasing new tyres specifically for the Taycan.
At long last I am pleased to report that my own car is back from the dealer, having had both a new panoramic glass roof, and a new windscreen. All now seems to be well, although I will be getting the car’s PPF coverage extended to cover the glass roof for peace of mind. Having not been able to drive it since July, it is a great experience re-discovering the car all over again. Whilst at the dealership, various software updates were installed, which seem to have ironed out a few glitches with the PCM. As colder weather approaches, it will be interesting to see how the battery performs.
Meeting some friends
With an optimistic eye on the New Year, I will give some thought to a gathering of Taycan members, subject to whatever restrictions are in place at the time.
Till next time, stay positive!
