Weekend of the year

Our region weekend of the year 2018 (WOTY)

For the event, we were joined by 3 members from the 991 register and also a couple form the Chiltern region Richard Kingston and his wife Doris, who also joined us last year for our WOTY.

The Craig-y-Dderwen hotel at Betwys y Coed was superb and the staff looked after us very well. We had a separate area of the car park reserved, which was an added bonus.

We all met at the bar prior to the dinner, and introduced members to each other.

The food at the hotel was excellent and every one commented how good it was.

On the Saturday, we drove the Evo triangle, the horse shoe pass and to outside Llangollen, the Sweeney Hall Country hotel for our lunch.

During the EVO triangle route, we were joined by a friendly North Wales Police who followed us for a while, during his depatrture we acknowledge each other with a wave and a smile 😃.

After lunch we headed towards Bala over the Berwyn mountains, which is a superb driving route with not much traffic.

From there we headed back on the A470 Blaenau Festiniog and towards Betwys Y Coed.

For dinner that night, we were joined by Phil Graham out Region director. He was impressed by the hotel, and will suggest it for other Region or register outings.

On the Sunday, 8 cars visited the Electric mountain at Dynorwic power station, unfortunately I could not attend this visit.
