Mersey Tunnel visit
Our first 2024 365 Tuesday event started with a behind the scenes tour of the Queensway Mersey Tunnel, which opened in 1934.

We met at the George’s Dock Building and were ushered inside to be fitted with hi-viz jackets and hard hats. The Art Deco building features Egyptian carvings and is very fancy for a ventilation shaft, but the architect didn’t want the shaft to look out of place against Liverpool’s amazing Three Graces.
