15 cars and couple joined in the 2019 Weekend of the Year, based at the delightful Izaak Walton Hotel in Dovedale. The meeting point on day one was Harvington Hall, by repute the medieval house with the most priest hides in England! A tour and lunch set us up for the two hour drive to the hotel. The next two days the group was split in two as most of the sites we visited would struggle with 15 Porsches arriving together. The places visited included a working cotton mill museum at Massons Mills Standedge Canal tunnel, the longest in the country Speedwell Cavern - a disused lead mine which is flooded and explored by boat. The ceiling is very low... The cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham And finally a visit to the Churnet Valley Steam railway before we set off for home A terrific tour, great company, good food and the weather didn't stop us doing anything!!
