March Sunday Run: Memus

Our March run took us to the Angus Glens...

Sunday 20th March saw a joint Sunday Run with the "In-Betweeners" - our Dundee area contingent that includes some Region 1 members.

The Aberdeen area start point was the café in Hazlehead Park which provided good bacon rolls and coffee. Clear and bright weather put us all in a good mood for the run ahead! Gill's team assembled at their regular meeting venue, the Milton Inn, Monifieth. (I should mention that I went to their last meeting, and the Milton looks after them very well. The fish & chips was excellent!)

Our route from Hazlehead park was designed with help from Robin & Cherry Provan. We made our way via Westhill and Garlogie to Crathes to cross the Dee, and then along the South Deeside Road to Bridge of Feugh at Banchory. From here we ascended the Cairn o' Mount road and stopped at the summit viewpoint to chat and enjoy the view. Hamish Annand's new Cayman GTS leads the pack at Cairn o' Mount. Pictures by Stan Fong

We continued, descending again to Fettercairn and on to Edzell where we branched off on the narrow country road signposted to Menmuir. This led us all the way to our destination, the Drovers' Inn at Memus, near Tannadice, without resorting to the A90.

The In-betweeners were there to meet us in the ample car park.

Twenty-three of us (Including surprise late entrants Ray & Sheila!) had a very enjoyable lunch in pleasant surroundings at the Drovers'. It was great to have such a good turnout and to get a fine weather drive - let's hope for many more in the coming months!
