Sunday Run to Pitlochry, July 12

The latest Sunday Lunch Run to Beautiful Perthshire

Last Sunday's run saw 6 cars and 11 members meet up at the Banchory Lodge Hotel for bacon rolls, scones, coffee etc. before heading off along Royal Deeside passing Ballater, Balmoral and Braemar before the road turns south through Glenshee. The sun was with us for the early part of the trip, and although it clouded over a bit once we were over the hills, it stayed dry.

Turning off on the Kirkmichael road brought us to Moulin Moor and the descent to Pitlochry. Here we made our way to Fonab Castle which overlooks Loch Faskally - where the River Tummel is dammed for the hydro-electric power station.

The Hotel's dining room has fabulous views of the river, loch and dam and served us an excellent lunch. It's clearly a petrolhead favourite, as the car park sported several Ferraris as well as our Porsches.

Once again, thanks are due to Cherry & Robin Provan who put in the spadework to prepare this trip, sample the restaurants etc. Tough work (!) - so if anyone else would like to make up a trip, please get in touch!
