Following on from our succesful visit to Fort George for the Summer Solstice run in 2022, we are excited to extend an invitation from our friends at the 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland - The Black Watch.
R2 members have been invited to form a display of Porsche cars within the walls of Fort George during the Fort George Highland Games on Saturday the 16th of September, with complimentary tickets to the Highland Games for all members who attend.
The Games will include the usual firm favourites, such as the shot put, caber toss and tug of war - but will also include some military competitions such as bugling competition and gun run (team movement and set up of 18th century artillery cannons).
Furthermore, that evening, the event will transition into Fort Fest - an all-ranks dance and social evening with the soliders, friends and families of the unit all in attendance.
There will be music all evening from the Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch, as well as food and drink available to purchase. R2 members cars will form a central attraction for the evening, with plenty of opportunity to socialise with our hosts who will no doubt be very interested to look around our cars.
The timings for the event are as follows:
- 10:00am - All cars to be in place inside Fort George
- 10:00am to 4:00pm - Highland Games including awards ceremony
- 4:30pm till late - Fort Fest All-Ranks Party & Dance (Depart at your leisure after 5:00pm, we suggest staying till 7:00pm to support the event)
The dress code is smart/casual civilian in keeping with a highland games - a flash of tartan is encouraged.
There is absolutely no charge for R2 members to attend the Highland Games & evening Fort Fest, with all entry being covered by the generosity of the Black Watch, and only food and refreshments to be paid for by members.
As there is no cost for this event, we are suggesting members make a voluntary donation to the Army Benevolent Fund instead, as a show of thanks to the men and women who risk their lives to maintain the freedom and safety of our nation. If you wish to donate you can do so here:
