R2 Summer Solstice Run

The few weeks around the Summer Solstice in Scotland is a magical time - making up for all the dark winter nights, we are lucky to have the longest days in the mainland UK, with traditionally good weather into the bargain.

To celebrate the longest day, on Friday the 16th of June R2 are having a late night run to Fraserburgh. We've made special arrangements with The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses at Kinnaird Head for dinner and an after hours tour. Attendees on this run will have the opportunity to eat fish & chips in the very first lighhouse on mainland Scotland (built in 1787 by Robert Stevenson) before learning the great story of the Northern Lighthouse Board, the engineers who built the lights and the keepers who tended them.

It is a story of skill, courage, technical genius and brilliant organisation.

We will have the opportunity to park in the Kinnaird Castle courtyard, so we hope the weather will be kind for photographs. If we are really lucky we may even catch a site of the local sealife. Orca, seals and dolphins are regular visitors to the bay and can be seen from the lighthouse cafe.

We'll also be writing an article for the club magazine, Porsche Post, so bring your camera and send in your best shots as we'll be needing them for the article.

Starting at Aberdeen Hilton at TECA, we will be departing at 6pm sharp.
The route we plan to take will take us via Whiterashes and Turriff, before heading east for Kinnaird Head. You can view the route on a map - Click Here

There is no return route from Fraserburgh. While there is no official closing time for this event, we expect the museum staff will be ready for bed by 10pm. (George too!)

The museum team will be liasing with a local fish & chip bar to serve us up dinner. Upon booking onto this event, you will be asked for your pre-ordered menu choices and sent details for payment. Please ensure you return these details promptly to avoid disappointment.

The price for this event will include your fish & chips dinner and access to the Lighthouse and museum.

Price is £25pp - includes supper, soft drink and entry to the museum.

Booking for this event is now open - please book via the link below.
