R2 Does Drive It Day 2022

Our big run out for Drive-It-Day, in Partnership with our friends at the Ferrari Owners Club Scotland North Area

First introduced in 2005, the format for Drive It Day is a tried and tested formula. The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) sets the date each year (as close as possible to the anniversary of the 1000 Mile Trial) and publicises the event nationally. Drive it day is a celebration of the 1900 event where the original motor cars were challenged to complete the journey from London to Edinburgh and back (1000 miles)!

These days, having proven the viability of the motor car, Drive It Day is a celebration of cars, with many clubs and associations organising their own days out.

To get involved, make sure you buy your very own Drive It Day Rally Plate here.

Back for 2022 - Region 2 are planning a big adventure around Aberdeenshire - be prepared for great driving roads, good food and plenty of time to socialise and admire our wheels!

Meeting at the Forest Cafe, Midmar at 10am, the cafe are offering takeaway teas and coffee for the group as we gather in the car park. Setting off at 10.30am sharp - we are taking in the B9119 and the A944 over the Lecht and north to Aberlour. We have booked out The Mash Tun bar and inn for a private lunch (a set menu will be sent around attendees prior to the event).

Once we are suitably feasted, there is a return route planned, ending in Alford at the Grampian Transport Museum. The museum are welcoming us in for a tour of their newly refreshed displays - including some royal additions! This is the perfect opportunity to grab another cuppa and spend some time kicking tyres and talking nuts and bolts of the by-gone era.

There are strict limits on numbers for the drive and lunch, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Anyone who would like to meet the group at Grampian Transport Museum are more than welcome. We plan to be there from 3pm onwards.

There is a £10 charge for this event (lunch not included) which covers the admin fees and entry to the museum. Payments will be taken via Paypal at the same time we take lunch pre-orders.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch via email - r2@porscheclubgb.com

We would strongly encourage attendees to Flow Before You Go - Lateral Flow Tests can be ordered for free from the Government website, or pick up from your local pharmacy. Details here.
