Happy New Year to you all!
Now that the holiday festivities are out the way, and you've all had time to sober up from Hogmanay, we would like to invite you on a New Year walk and winter picnic!
This year we are inviting R2 members to join us as we explore Muir of Dinnet and the Burn O'Vat. Make your way to the Burn O'Vat Visitor Centre for 11am - see map here - and choose one of the many trails to enjoy.
We will be heading to the Vat itself - a short 30 minute walk to the cauldron-shaped pothole. It was gouged out by rocks tumbling along in a stream beneath a glacier. In the depths of winter, Muir of Dinnet is a winter wonderland. Stunning scenery combined with a wealth of winter birds makes it perfect for a walk in the woodlands or along the shore of the loch. There are often huge icicles in the Vat. You may see flocks of finches and possibly even the occasional otter.
We'll meet back in the car park to enjoy our winter picnics so don't forget to pack your leftovers sandwich and a flask of tea!
