Hardy Souls 2 - The "B" Roads

Continuing the Hardy Souls theme this is another half day drive largely on local “B” roads with a few “A” road links.

Potentially more weather dependent on some stretches  than the run on 2nd January but let’s see how it goes, although I’m sure we can rely on our Ballater based members to give us early warning of adverse road conditions on the proposed route.

Meet up  again at Mains of Drum garden centre circa 9.30  for coffee and breakfast rolls ( cafe will be open from 9am).

10.30’ish head off to Bridge of Feugh via A93, Slug Road (A957) and South Deeside Road.

Follow South Deeside Road all the way to Ballater and join the A93, head towards Braemar and re-group at the car park at Crathie.

Just after Crathie  take a quick  right onto  the B976 single track road and follow to the junction with the A939 (turn left), continue on this road to the junction with the A944 , turn left and head past Goodbrand  & Ross and on to Cock Bridge and the Lecht (weather and roads permitting).

Return past Goodbrand & Ross and take the road to Strathdon (A97) and continue until the junction with the B9119 – turn left towards Tarland.

Follow the B9119 to Forest Café Midmar for a final rendezvous and bring the run to a close.

No lunch arrangements will be made but if folk want a lunchtime bite there is always the option to nip into the Forest Café.

Photo stops probably on the B976 and A939, and optionally Cock Bridge and to and from The Lecht – roadside conditions permitting.

Please e-mail Paul  at paul@barlow.org.uk if you would like to join or be kept informed about this run.
