There was a good turnout for the run through the Lakes, with 38 members and guests first meeting at the Greggs 'facility' at the Lancaster Services - some enjoying a month's intake of cholesterol additives whilst having a good chat, and consuming a much needed coffee.
The run took a short drive up the M6 to Junction 35, and then headed off into the hills following some excellent Porsche roads to Lake Windermere. From there the route followed the Kirkstone Pass to The Inn on the Lake at Glennridding. It was in 2014 when we last visited this particular hotel, and it did not disappoint; the staff were very helpful, and the private restaurant was very good. The large car parking area allowed all the Porsches to park together safely, giving a photo opportunity for the collection of some nice toys!
Several new members came along, which was very welcome, and the plan will be to repeat the run next year, maybe with a date change to hopefully get better weather, to allow full appreciation of the wonderful scenery. But on this occasion traffic was very light, probably because of the poor weather and the 'back to school' effects on tourist roads.
