On the weekend of 2nd & 3rd June R5 had its usual display area at the very popular Classic and Performance Car Show at picturesque Tatton Park. We had an excellent variety of cars on both days with nearly 30 members able to display their cars and enjoy an excellent free day out at one of the biggest classic car shows in the North West. Our display included front engined, in the form of a 968CS, and 3 928's which made for a great display. We also had a range of Boxsters, Caymans and 911's and a very smart Cayenne Turbo as well. The stars of the show though were 2 356's; a 1955 Continental and a 1963 356 Coupe. Both of these fabulous cars won prizes in the show; Best Rare Car and Best Sports Car, and we are very pleased for their owners John Liles and Hassan Isaji, well done!!
The weather was Ok on the Saturday with just a little light drizzle at lunchtime and the Sunday was sunny and warm. The new PCGB Gazebo was an excellent addition and was well used by members and visitors on both days. We had lots of visitors to the stand to admire the cars and a number of potential new members were impressed with both the range of cars, friendly welcome from the members and the range of events that the club puts on; many committed to joining that weekend. We also raised money for the North West Air Ambulance with contributions from members and visitors alike.
Everybody had a great weekend and lots of new friends were made over the 2 days; whom we all look forward to seeing again at more R5 events throughout the year. Thanks to all those who came and displayed their cars and for those who visited us and made the days so much fun. Thanks also to Michael Williams and Mike Ratcliffe for their efforts on the Friday to mow the grass and get the display area looking so good.
