On 13th September R5 had its now annual karting night. After last years very wet affair we decided to try an indoor track and selected the Daytona Manchester venue. The event was well attended with 20 racers and a number of spectators cheering on their favourites; the venue has an excellent viewing area above the circuit and has electronic timing boards so everyone can follow who is going the fastest.
The event was Daytona's Classic which provided a Practice session, 2 Qualifying Heats and then an A & B Final, so all racers got to join in on all the fun. There was, not surprisingly, a lot of friendly banter and rivalry for the top spots, with a few unscheduled incidents on track. The most notable being; one racer coming out the pits and going the wrong way around the circuit (luckily not for long!) and another, (who shall remain nameless, you know who you are), who having spun just after the bridge decided to get out of his kart onto the track!!
