Sunday run to Lowther Castle

A new location for a Sunday run this year to Lowther Castle near Penrith.

Lowther Castle, near Penrith in the Lake District, turned out to be a venue full of surprises. Starting with the impact of seeing the ruins for the first time (and a line-up of 25 Porsches in front of it) we were then treated to a guided tour of the gardens, which retain their original 17th century plan.

The history of Lowther dates back to the 12th century and the castle is the third building to occupy the site. There is much to explore, with an exhibition and shop, and a café providing welcome refreshments. It was really good to have a pleasant run, get together with our neighbours from Region 18, and especially welcome some of our new members on their first outing. Thank you to all for your support and for your appreciative comments, which make it all worthwhile.
