An indoor track day with a difference in the winter months.

Grande Tyres R/C Grand Prix – 12th March 2017

March has usually been one of our quieter months over the previous years and after a bit of brain storming we came up with a driving challenge with a twist; remote control cars - no weather worries and a bit of Sunday morning fun for the boys and girls of R3 with some inexpensive toys. Knowing how competitive R3 can be, and knowing that some of our members would turn up with some good fast kit we designed a tight and twisty track from scrap tyres, even adding a bridge. We had a varied selection of competitors, from a Panamera and a tiny 918 Spyder to some rather special kit. The driving talent was varied too, but we’ll leave that there!

Numbers were given to each contestant, rounds were drawn and we started our inaugural Grande Tyres R/C Grand Prix. The response was fantastic and great fun, no one taking it too seriously completing three competitive laps, despite a small amount of cheating.

First place went to Simon Poole, second Mark Duffy and third went to young, Jack Proctor. Well done to everyone who took part or just came along to support this crazy event. We’ve already been asked when we will be holding the next one, who knows, watch this space.
