Region 27 January Meeting -possibly a life saving event!

13 January 2016

Wednesday 13 January

7pm for 8pm : Gowdy’s 60 Gravelhill Road, Lisburn BT27 5RW (Early Bird Menu available until 6:30pm)

Do you know how to carry out CPR in an emergency?

If not, or if you would like some informal refresher training then don’t miss our January Meeting when we will welcome along a representative from the St John Ambulance for some basic First  Aid training and a practical demonstration that just could save lives!

Many members will have read in the local press recently that research, carried out by charity organisation The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Northern Ireland shown that only a third of people in Northern Ireland would be confident in performing life-saving CPR if they witnessed a person suffering a cardiac arrest.

It also revealed that 66% said they would be worried about knowing what to do if someone collapsed in front of them after their heart stopped.

Every minute without CPR or defibrillation can reduce a person's chance of survival by around 10%. With around 1,400 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in Northern Ireland every year, but less than one in 10 surviving, failure by bystanders to intervene is costing lives every day.
