Darren Slater has kindly taken the time to organise a run to the races at Donington Park. Darren writes:
Thank you all for your interest in the Porsche Weissach Tour and Donington Race meeting on Sunday 21 April.
The details are almost finalised, we plan to meet at The Old Wharf Tearooms, Hickling, LE14 3AH at 9am for breakfast. Chris the owner is also a Porsche fan and owns a very nice red 992. He is hoping to join us on the tour.
The plan is for everyone to meet at the Tearooms for 9am, so we can take priority parking in the car park which is limited to around 20 cars, (please note The Old Wharf Tearooms are very popular with walkers, hence being there as early as possible is recommended) further parking is available on the road.
At the minute we were planning on capping the quantity of cars to 20, however, we may be able to stretch this out to 25 with the amount of current interest.
Chris at the Tearooms has asked that we prebook our choice of breakfast, so we will be sending out the breakfast menu closer to the time, this will enable the chefs to feed us all and enable us to be leaving no later than 10.00am
We will then have a scenic tour of around 70 miles going through the Vale of Belvoir and Rutland with an aim to be arriving at Donington for around 12 noon, where we will be greeted by the Weissach Team. They are very kindly providing hospitality for us with teas and coffees (there was talk of biscuits and cake). We have been invited to meet the Race Team and Driver, hopefully we will get to have a good look around the Race Car and then have the rest of the afternoon to watch the racing.
We will issue you the map and driving instructions of the tour on the morning of the event, you will also be issued a specific R8/Weissach pass to enable Porsche parking only, within the paddock area. Please note this is specific parking for Porsche cars only and for those that have joined the Weissach Tour.
All members attending will require a ticket to gain entry into Donington – there is a discount code for Porsche Club GB members which is PORSCHECLUB24 – tickets will be available from HERE nearer the date of the event.
Anyone else arriving on the day without a ticket and Weissach pass will have to park in the public carpark and purchase a ticket at gate price.
All vehicles on the tour must be parked in the designated Porsche parking area, not at the Weissach team area.
Timetable for the Donington race events is not yet available on the Donington website, this will be available nearer the date.
Can you all please confirm you will be attending as numbers are limited and if you will be accompanied with a passenger.
