Bumper Grid for Porsches at Snetterton

Latest rounds of the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli

There are bumper grids for the Petro-Canada Porsche Club Championship races at Snetterton in Norfolk this Saturday (July 27th) with the popular Classic Restoracing Championship class joining the series regulars for the two 25-minute rounds. With two classes of slick-shod Porsche Club Championship runners and the Restoracing Boxters out on their treaded Pirellis, there should be entertaining racing right down the order in the large field of over thirty cars.

Simon Clark heads the overall Petro-Canada Porsche Club Championship points and class one coming in to Snetterton, having taken two wins from the eight races to date in his Cayman S.  A debut overall win at Brands Hatch last time out has moved 2017 class two champion Jake McAleer into second on his first season in the front-running class, racing the 996 C2 his father Mark, who also won at Brands Hatch at the beginning of the month, took to the championship two seasons ago.

Ross Morris heads the class two points in his Boxster S with four wins, just four points behind Clark in the race for the title, but an influx of rapid Boxster racers in recent rounds has seen him having to work hard to stay at the front. Having his first season in racing a superb performance by Matt Kyle-Henney has seen him score well to currently sit second in the points, with Steve Freeman, in his second season, tied for third with Kevin Molyneux, new to the series for this season but already a podium regular. A car to watch out for will be that of James Coleman, who took three class wins out of four at Brands Hatch on the first weekend of the month.

The Classic Restoracing Championship is for restored early Boxsters, with Ben McLoughlin in the car prepared by Porsche Centre Bournemouth currently sitting top of the points table. Laden with extra weight due to his race experience, McLoughlin suffered his first defeat in the series at Brands Hatch, passed by rival Matt Bird in a gravel trap as they both went off on spilt fluid while at the front of the field.

The car scores points in the series rather than the driver, adding a team element to a series offering newcomers a route into racing, while another feature is the requirement to run a livery from, or inspired by, Porsche’s prolific race history. The immaculately turned out cars race as well as they look, and their battle will be a highlight.

Qualifying is currently set for 09.00 on Saturday morning, with the two 25-minute races at 11.20 and 14.25.
