Loton Park a great start to the Hillclimb Season

The first round of the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship of the 2019 season started cool, bright and dry. The track was in great condition with competitors close to their personal bests by the second practice.

Loton Park was the place to be on Sunday for great Porsche racing.

With no third practice run, it was straight into competitive runs. In Class 2 the road going class David Dyson in his 991 GT3 lead the way with a 57.45 second climb followed closely by Robert Lancaster-Gaye in the 996 GT3 with a 58.77 second climb. Robert proving that the 15 year old 996 GT3 is still a very competitive car. Simon Tarling also in a 996 GT3 was third with a time of 60.26 seconds followed by Richard York in his 997 GT3 who consistently improved throughout the weekend with a 68.51 second climb.

In Class 1 modified cars, there was a poor turnout with only two competitors entering. Duncan Andrews with his DNF in practice was keen to check the car and set a very respectable time of 57.02 seconds, however Paul Howells with his flame spitting early Carrera RSR took the Class 1 win with a 55.42 second climb.
