Thousands of Porsche Club members joined us at the home of British Motorsport to enjoy the 2016 Silverstone Classic and take part in one of the Club’s most outstanding National Events to date.
We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the Club’s presence so successful. Below are just some of the highlights from the three days:
Mervyn Garton ‘Scarf and Goggles’ award
The Club was delighted to be presented with the Mervyn Garton ‘Scarf and Goggles’ award for the best infield display. The impressive trophy took pride of place on the membership desk within the Club’s marquee for all to see.
Porsche Parade Lap
200 Club members' cars took to the track for a parade lap celebrating the 40th anniversary of Porsche’s transaxle range. 924s, 944s, 968s and 928s were joined by Boxster and Cayman to welcome the new 718 model range.
Porsche Club Barbecue at the PEC
Porsche Cars GB very kindly allowed the Club to hold a barbecue within the prestigious Experience Centre at Silverstone. As well as great food and drink, the panoramic balcony offered stunning views of the track as the Group C legends raced into the sunset.
Register Parking
By mid-morning each day every available space within the Club’s Register parking area was filled, with Club members proudly displaying their Porsches. It was fantastic to see such a variety of models celebrating the marque’s diverse range.
Anniversary Displays
Celebrating 40 year and year anniversaries respectively, the transaxle and Boxster Registers were offered premium display space alongside the Club’s marquee. This also included a special display organised by Tracy and Cliff Wilkins to showcase the evolution of the Boxster, including the latest 718 incarnation.
Turbo Display
This year’s 911 turbo display saw the welcome addition of a number of early and limited edition models, ranging from the 930 to a one-off 997.
Club Hospitality
The Club hired in our largest marquee to date to provide members with an area to relax and refuel, with complimentary tea and coffee available throughout the event. We were also available to provide exclusive access to the Wellington straight grandstand with its premium viewpoint of the track.
