Speedo working Mileometer not

Hi,

Title says it all really, the speedo is working fine but the mileometer has stopped counting.

So I guess I need to get it down to a specialist for repair, any ideas? It's a white faced instrument so it'll need a specialist repair.

How does it come out, is it just a pull out job, I seem to remember my 964 being that simple.

TIA

Gerry

It seems to be pretty common on these - a small plastic cog shearing some teeth normally. Julian Reap (as above http://www.reapautomotivedesign.com) did mine many years ago and I've been very happy with it.

Yes, the dial just pulls out. I had to put some cloth behind a flat blade screwdriver to get it started, but it was very easy.

as per previous post julian reap did mine last year- bit over £100 but well worth it imho when you look at the DIY option. he takes a while to reply to e mails and get the job done but it came back good as new.
getting speedo out of dash- its just an interference fit in the hole with a rubber sleeve round the metal body (you can see the end of that sleeve looking like a giant o ring) and you don't need to get behind it. get and use a set of soft plastic trim removal tools (about a tenner on amazon) as a screwdriver or similar will damage the trim or the rubber sleeve its mounted in. go slowly and it will come. connection is then just an electrical plug when its out. smear of vaseline on it to refit
