Festival of Porsche returns to Brands Hatch this September for a special celebration of Germany's most iconic sports car manufacturer, complete with racing, demonstrations and displays. Organised by MotorSport Vision (MSV) in association with Porsche Club GB, Festival of Porsche on Sunday 2nd September will be a highlight for both the Club and the circuit in 2018. The event's return, for the first time since 2014, is ideally timed as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Porsche.

This will be a mammoth road trip, but we are a hardy lot here in R3 and extremely well travelled. Like the National Event at Ragley Hall those of us who would like to get involved are going to have to put plans in place regarding holidays etc. hence this early post.

Proposed Itinary

Leave the North East Friday AM

Aim to be hotel for Early evening with time to relax before dinner.

Saturday free to relax (possible spa hotel) or explore the area before regrouping for evening meal.

Sunday Brands Hatch Festival of Porsche, see here

Monday after Breakfast return to the North East at your leisure or return in convoy.

Obviously this will take a bit of planning and hotels will need to be booked.

"What? Another weekend away with R3?" I hear you say.

In this the 70th anniversary year I, for one, want to look back and say "I was there", so if you are like me and fancy joining in the madness that is R3 on tour please add to this thread I will then start looking at hotels and prices and discuss this further at our May Club night before making any arrangements.

Perhaps for some who are lucky enough you could use this as a pre-Goodwood Revival stop over.

Due to a combination of fate and bad timing I’m in Mexico until 30th but really fancying this but I do actually need to do some work! Greg, not want to add to your workload is it possible to also look at options to travel down/accommodation just for the Sat & Sun when you are making you enquiries?

Brands Hatch sounds like a long way but as someone who until recently used to drive Newcastle to Brussels on a pretty regular basis, once you hit the Motorways you can get back up to the NE in 4 - 4 1/2 hrs if the weather and traffic allow so its not a completely crazy idea for those who simply cant get any more time off!

Happy to lend a helping hand if necessary

I've booked the Premier Inn at Swanley for the Saturday night as it is only a 7 miles from Brands Hatch and currently prices are £61.50 for the Saturday night.

See you all on the Sunday if not before [:D]

We have booked for this and are staying at the Holiday Inn at Wrotham Heath (5 miles from Brands Hatch).

Hi Greg

We’ve registered for this event but haven’t booked any accommodation yet. Your suggestion sounds like a great weekend so more than happy to join the group.

Hi all

The club are arranging a BBQ in the Stirling Suite at Brands starting at 7pm on Saturday 1st September as part of the 70th celebrations. Tickets (£25 per person) are limited to 150.

Do we think that would be worth attending for those going to this event?

A bit confused here - no change there then! - Only Marty has indicated booking tickets for the BBQ at the Brands Hatch 70th event. Are all who are going to Brands also going to the BBQ?

Hi all,

Following conversation with Greg it seems the intention is for everyone to attend the BBQ on the Satruday evening so we've booked tickets for that too.

Should be a great weekend!

I have booked the Mercure Hotel at Brands today Friday-Monday, still rooms available and walking distance to be able to fully enjoy the BBQ on Saturday night.:ROFLMAO:

Is there a convoy planned for Saturday? if so any times to meet up? Also, if there are other folk who regard a bbq as a missed opportunity for a decent drink and want to meet somewhere for proper food........suggestions

I'm down on Friday afternoon, In the Mercure Hotel Friday and Saturday returning Sunday night. Looking forward to it! See you there.

[blockquote] We’ll be there, see you at the Mercure, Kev.

[/blockquote]Looking forward to another fantastic PCGB experience with other like minded enthusiastic members. Deb and I are very excited to be part of this and what better chance to catch up with lots of the great friends we have made over the years being part of this awesome club.

I'm heading down on Saturday morning and will probably go via the A1.

See you all at the BBQ on Saturday night [:)]

We're heading down early Saturday and will be involved in the 70th photo at 2pm.

Staying at the Mercure and will be at the BBQ so see folks there.
