I'm trying to organise a club visit to a fantastic design, engineering, metalwork, paintwork and vehicle construction facility that specialise in customer projects, from a sympathetically restored classic, bespoke custom built car for the road to a bullet-proof machine for competition.

As a teaser, they are in the process of completing such a project for THE Gordon Murray.

More news to follow......

Sounds like a fantastic opportunity so put me on the list please and thanks for organising in advance.

John, you will be top of the list once I have it all ironed out but yes it is sure going to be an interesting one if I can pull it off.

I don't want to tempt fate by giving away too much before it's signed and sealed but yes Andy I think it is, hope everyone else will too!

Sounds great Drew. Count me in when it's all arranged, subject to me being free on the date.

Ok, cat is now out of the bag, I am in the process of arranging a visit to Retropower https://retropower.net/ for up to 40 lucky people (max 20 cars for parking restrictions).

The work these guys do is phenomenal and I have to say a big thanks to Callum and Nathaniel Seviour for inviting me over to their premises last Thursday near Hinckley to discuss the opportunity of an open day specifically for our region.

We are discussing dates at present, but it will definitely be a Saturday, possibly in June, limited numbers, with maybe a BBQ.

Cal and Nat will walk us through their workshops discussing current and previous projects that range from a Cosworth Duratech engined Mk1 Escort https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSiG7oNXC6w to an amazing 2.7 Millington diamond powered Alfa GT Junior.

They do all fabrication, paint and mechanical work in house so there is lots for the car nerd to see (I could have happily stayed permanently), but quite tightly packed into a small-ish footprint, hence numbers will be limited to enable sufficient parking and also enough room to give guided tours in smaller groups.

While I have said John, Joe and Jeff are on the list, when I confirm dates I will open a first come, first served attendee list, with reserve spaces in case of last minute drop outs. Please wait for the announced date before asking for a space.

If you are a car nerd, watch their youtube vlogs, look at their website, watch the forum for updates and check the back of the sofa for change as once you've seen what they do, you'll want to commission them to build you something. Just not a Chevette Estate.

Yes, sounds marvellous, Drew.
Can I just ask you to keep 23 June free though, as I have a special visit (details soon) planned for that date? [;)] Ta.

Hi guys being as we are doing dates. Myself and Sue are planning something for June 13th which should turn into a really good night. Keep it free and we should be able to confirm shortly :)

Looks great Drew! If I’m back, I’d love to join in, because I am going away (did you know?!). In fact I want everyone to delay everything until post 16/6 !!!!!! ??
